More Than Men

Why we exist

Our Story

More Than Men was created by men who had been to the edge, looked around, and decided no one else should have to stand there alone.

It started with a few honest conversations. Men who were exhausted from saying “I’m sound” when they were anything but. Men who’d lost mates, relationships, confidence, direction. Men who were carrying far too much in silence.

Those conversations turned into a simple idea: a consistent, welcoming space in Warrington where men can show up exactly as they are. No pressure. No ego. No judgement. Just a brew, a chair and people who genuinely get it.

Today, More Than Men is a growing brotherhood built on connection, honesty and hope. Every session, every chat, every small step matters.

What drives us

What We Stand For

More Than Men isn’t just a name – it’s a statement. You’re more than your job, your mistakes, your bank balance, your past, your bad days, your “man up and crack on”. We exist to protect that truth.

Peer-Led

Sessions are led by men with lived experience. We talk with you, not at you. No clipboards, no clinical script – just real life.

No Judgement

Whatever you’re facing, you’re welcome: stress, anger, anxiety, addiction, loneliness, shame, or just feeling lost.

No Pressure

You never have to speak. Listening, turning up and breathing out for an hour absolutely counts.

Confidential

What’s shared in the room stays in the room, unless someone’s safety is at serious risk.

Inclusive

All men (18+) are welcome, from any background, culture or story.

Community

We’re building more than a meeting. We’re building connection, trust and a network of lads who look out for each other.

By men, for men

Lived Experience At The Core

The men who help run More Than Men have their own stories: burnouts, breakdowns, addictions, grief, anger, pressure, feeling like they’ve failed, and slowly finding a way through.

That matters. Because when you walk in, you’re not met with “what’s wrong with you?” – you’re met with “I’ve been there, mate.”

  • We listen more than we talk.
  • We don’t minimise what you’re going through.
  • We don’t promise quick fixes.
  • We point you towards support that actually helps.

We’re not a replacement for professional services – we sit alongside them, giving men a safe first step, or an extra one.

You’re not a project to fix.

You’re a person to stand with. That’s our starting point, every time.

Peer-led Honest Down-to-earth
Safe. Respectful. Steady.

How We Keep It Safe

Trust is everything. Men open up when they feel safe – so we protect that.

  • Clear ground rules shared regularly.
  • Zero tolerance for abuse, hate or discrimination.
  • We look out for each other in the room.
  • If we’re worried about someone’s safety, we’ll encourage support and, where needed, follow safeguarding steps.

We also signpost to local and national services, so men can access specialist help when they need it.

Community & Supporters

More Than Men exists because the community backs it – from venues and volunteers to local businesses and organisations who believe men’s mental health matters.

Their support helps us keep the kettle on, the doors open and the sessions free.

Your First Time With Us

“I’m nervous I’ll be put on the spot.”
You won’t be. You choose if and when you speak. Listening is enough.
“What if my situation isn’t ‘serious enough’?”
If it’s on your mind, it’s valid. Stress, money, relationships, work, anger, feeling flat, feeling nothing – bring it as it is.
“Can I come on my own?”
Yes. Loads of men do. You’ll be welcomed at the door. You can also bring a mate if that helps.
“Does it cost anything?”
No. Sessions are free. Donations and support are appreciated but never expected.

Still unsure? Drop us a message on the Contact page and someone from the team can chat it through with you.
